Flash NOKIA phone’s software

Sometimes, Nokia phone’s software (actually it is firmware) malfunction and generally caused problems are

  • White screen while switching on.
  • Some functions of phone are not available
  • Phone crashes when we try to use some functions of phone.
  • Security code not accepted, etc.

for such problems, generally two solutions are available.

1) Phone software update using NOKIA SOFTWARE UPDATER
If new software update is available for your mobile phone model, the you can update using “Nokia software updater”. All details can be found here.
If new update is not available, then you have to go for second option or take mobile to nearby Nokia service store to re-write the software again.

2) Flashing the software and re-writing the software(firmware) again.
Warning: warranty is not valid if you perform following procedure. If you your warranty need to be valid, take phone to Nokia service store for flashing.
This method is do-it-yourself method. All you need are
your mobile phone’s data cable,  charger, mobile battery fully charged, Following softwares

        Nokia PC suite.
        Phoenix.

        FIRMWARE (explained below)
Your phone models firmware can be downloaded by two methods
1) using Navifirm software : Download link
Navifirm show phone model, then software version and language. download the files and copy to C:\Program files\Nokia\Phoenix\Products\?. where ? is name of your phone type eg. RM-237 for Nokia 3110c. This is written below the battery holder of phone.

2) zip files from this link .
Go to this link, and choose the mobile model and download the latest firmware package and install and restart. (must restart system)
Very very important: Do not download older versions than existing firmware version of your phone. If you do not know the version, download latest. version can be seen by pressing *#0000# in Nokia phones.

Install the softwares in the order -> Nokia PC suite (remove from startup. File> uncheck “Invoke at startup”), Phoenix, Firmware. Then restart the system.
Find type of mobile by seeing the back of the mobile after removing the battery. note down the type

After finishing you will get a window like this

SUCCESS!!!

remove the USB cable
remove charger
remove the battery
insert battery
switch on the mobile.
Now, You are up.Your mobile has been flashed and the firmware (phone software) has been re-written.
security code will be reset to 12345. All files are deleted in Gallery, contacts, calender, notes, etc and factory reset has done.

WARNINGS: Choosing the firmware version is very important. It is always better to go for most recent version. Downgrading firmware will lead to dead phone. I have experience in this because I downgraded the mobile phone and my phone was dead. (Then, it took me one whole night to fix it by using some other softwares).
DO NOT DOWNGRADE.
Remove SIM and Memory card from mobile before flashing. Take backup from phone memory if necessory. Otherwise, the memory card will formatted, the contacts in SIM may be deleted.
Phone battery should be in full charge. If charge is down in middle of flashing then, phone will be dead. Connect charger while flashing.

If you have any doubt, do not try it because it may destroy your phone completely. Ask your doubts in comments.

There is no single software for all phones because each one is manufactured by seperate manufacturer. But, you can use Oxygen software to view the hidden files and operating system files for almost any phone. (WARNING: whenever you use these software, be very careful. Don’t do a particular step if you don’t know what it will it do. You might end up bricking your phone).

Check Dead Phone Usb Flashing is disabled and usb connection to phone is failed pls help me

    • Karthikeyan / Mar 22 2013 5:21 am

Sorry for late reply. Switch off the phone and disconnect the cable. Open the software & try flashing. It will try to connect to phone.
Now, connect the phone to cable and try switching it on. (Try short press on power button or long press on power button).
At some point, the phone will try to switch on and it will get connected to software and flashing begins. This is how i brought my dead phone back. Remember, getting connected to software by this way is very difficult. I tried for many hours to get connected and flashed.

What mobile model are you using? Download the firmware using Navifirm software. IS your phone dead or functional now?

hi, i used same software to flash my cell. 2 time it was successful. recently i try to do same thing but my cell become dead. any solution will be appreciated ……….

    • Karthikeyan / Nov 7 2013 5:34 am

If you have used older version than what is flashed in phone, then it will make your phone dead.
There is an alternative, but you have to try a lot of times to get into this mode.
      Charge phone to full battery.
Switch off your phone and Connect to computer using data cable.
Open Phoenix software and click Refurbish.
Now power on the phone. There is a very short time in which the phone gets detected & flashing will start.
You have to try so many times to make it working.
